A man who destroyed property at a New Brighton Domino’s Pizza shop after receiving a smaller-than-usual paycheck won’t serve jail time for the offense.

Matthew William Lindman, 30, received a stayed sentence from a Ramsey County district judge Wednesday on one count of first-degree criminal damage to property.

The conviction was deemed a gross misdemeanor. A burglary charge previously facing Lindman was dismissed.

In lieu of jail or prison time, Lindman was placed on probation for two years with the condition that he complete treatment, receive mental health counseling and pay restitution.

The sentence was lighter than what is recommended by state sentencing guidelines.

Lindman’s defense attorney declined to comment on the outcome.

Angry over the paycheck he received from his employer in late March 2017, Lindman returned to his job at the Domino’s Pizza shop after his shift and caused thousands of dollars in damages.

The store’s surveillance system caught the incident on video.

The footage shows Lindman entering the store at 2:44 a.m. March 24 and removing a freezer door from its hinges before kicking a monitor and breaking a table, court documents say. He broke three more monitors before leaving, the complaint said.

The damage was estimated at $5,000.

Lindman’s paycheck was smaller than usual because he was incarcerated for a few days during the last pay period, the complaint said.
