A section of Minnesota 5 will close overnight Wednesday as construction crews continue work along the bridge deck that spans the Mississippi River.
The highway will be closed from Minnesota 55 to Davern Street beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday and remain inaccessible to traffic through the night. The road will reopen Thursday at 5 a.m., according to information released by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
All ramps in the project area will also be closed during that time period.
Traffic will be detoured to Highway 55, Minnesota 110 and Interstate 35E. Motorists are advised to look out for signs.
The closure allows crews to pour a portion of the westbound Highway 5 bridge deck. Work on the Highway 5 project is expected to end in November.
