Charges have been filed in a case involving a man found fatally shot outside a Roseville apartment building in the fall of 2017.

Perry Early Williams III, 33, was indicted by a grand jury this week on four murder counts in the death of Dondi Nalls, according to the legal document filed in Ramsey County District Court.

Police responded to the 1400 block of Terrace Drive shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23, 2017 after a report of shots fired and found Nalls on the ground outside an apartment building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics were unable to save him.

Police made a plea at the time for anyone with information about the shooting to call Minnesota Crime Stoppers.

Williams is charged with committing first-degree premeditated murder for the benefit of a gang, first-degree premeditated murder, second-degree intentional murder for the benefit of a gang, and second-degree intentional murder.

No further details about the fatal shooting were included in the indictment.

Williams made his first court appearance Friday morning.

No attorney was listed for him in court records. His family could not be reached for comment.

Williams was convicted in 2013 of being a felon in possession of a firearm, court records say. He also was convicted of felony level theft and third-degree burglary in 2012, check forgery in 2011 and assault with a dangerous weapon in 2003.

Someone who commented in the online guestbook connected to Nalls’ obituary posted on Legacy.com referred to him as “one of the kindest and calm guys I’ve met.”

“You will be missed,” the individual wrote. “My heart goes out to the family and all who knew this man.”
