A woman reportedly high on methamphetamine stabbed her friend outside a Little Canada residence over the weekend, authorities say.

Clarissa Jean Martin, 30, was charged Tuesday with two counts of second-degree murder in Shayna Mae Fairbanks’ death, according to the criminal complaint filed against Martin in Ramsey County District Court.

Martin’s boyfriend called police after his girlfriend came into his parents’ Little Canada home Sunday night covered in blood, the complaint said.

When he asked her what had happened, Martin reportedly told him that she’d stabbed Fairbanks in self defense.

Martin and her boyfriend live at his parents’ Little Canada home with their infant. She reportedly left the residence around 6 p.m. that evening in her boyfriends’ Kia Optima, saying at the time that she was heading to Minneapolis to pick up baby food from her cousin, the man told police, according to the complaint.

She walked back in hours later and said that “Shayna” was waiting for her in the car, charges say.

Martin’s boyfriend reminded her his parents didn’t want them to have friends at the house and told her to take Fairbanks home.

He called her about 15 minutes later when he checked Martin’s “Find my Iphone” app and saw that his girlfriend was still outside the house, the complaint said.

Martin reportedly said she couldn’t talk and “abruptly hung up.”

She walked in covered with blood moments later holding a knife that Martin’s boyfriend told police had gone missing from his parents’ butcher block days prior. Martin also had a wound to her arm.

Police found Fairbanks’ body lying partially on the back seat of Martin’s Chevy Cruze, which was parked in front of the home, the complaint said. Police suspect Martin dragged her to the vehicle from her boyfriend’s Kia Optima, according to the complaint.

While en route to get treatment for her own wound, Martin reportedly was recorded in an ambulance saying she “pushed her and grabbed the knife. I didn’t mean to,” the complaint said. As well as “I don’t know how many times I stabbed her.”

She was also overheard saying that she’d taken Percocet 24 hours before the stabbing and smoked methamphetamine about an hour before, authorities say.

Martin’s boyfriend told police that his girlfriend is addicted to pain medication.

An autopsy showed stab wounds to Fairbanks’ forehead, neck, chest, forearm and thigh.

Martin is expected to make her first court appearance on the charges Wednesday afternoon. No attorney was listed for her in court records.
