A St. Paul man will spend eight months in prison for firing a shotgun at the Federal Reserve Bank building during the Minneapolis Aquatennial fireworks display last summer, authorities say.
Christopher Douglas Wood, 43, was sentenced Friday in federal court in Minneapolis on one count of possessing a firearm in a federal building, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Woods was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service on July 21 when he fired the shots from the downtown post office.
He fired three shotgun slugs at the bank, causing more than $40,000 in damage to its windows and facade. One of the shots went through a triple-pane security window and was later found in the seventh-floor ceiling.
During their investigation at Wood’s home, authorities said they found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun with a loaded magazine, a Snake Slayer pistol, ammunition and documents critical of the Federal Reserve Bank.
