A St. Paul man is accused of raping his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter after the child tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease, authorities say.
Arturo Macarro Gutierrez, 35, faces first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges for sexually assaulting the girl late last month at a home in St. Paul, according to a criminal complaint filed against him Monday in Ramsey County District Court.

The child’s grandmother reported the conduct to police last week after the girl told her that her “daddy” hurt her in the genital region when he pulled down his pants, the complaint said. Gutierrez is reportedly in a relationship with the girl’s mother.
Medical staff at Children’s Hospital ran tests on the 4-year-old and determined she had gonorrhea.
Police arrested Gutierrez after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence on Humboldt Avenue in West St. Paul, the complaint said. Gutierrez was reportedly found hiding in the attic.
He was charged with sexually assaulting the child after also testing positive for gonorrhea, though he denied hurting the girl, the complaint said.
Gutierrez made his first court appearance on the allegations Monday. His next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
His criminal history includes convictions for domestic assault, theft, fleeing police and fifth-degree assault.
Gutierrez’s public defender, Zachary Iverson Van Cleve, declined to comment on his case.
