A 15-year-old is recovering in the hospital after he was shot in the back in an apartment building in St. Paul’s Summit-University neighborhood early Thursday.
The teen told officers who responded to the scene that someone shot him through this apartment window, according to St. Paul Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster.
He was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital to be treated for two gunshot wounds to his back. His injuries are not life-threatening, Ernster said.
The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. Thursday on the 200 block of Grotto Street.
Responding officers found the teen inside an apartment building, along with a window with two bullet holes through it and two shell casings on the building’s back fire escape.
The shooting does not appear random, Ernster said.
No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
The victim’s name was not released.
