Shortly after an Eagan woman passed out behind the wheel at a St. Paul intersection, she suddenly shifted into reverse and pinned another woman who’d stopped to check on her between their two vehicles, authorities say.
Then she took off, traveling at about 75 miles an hour down city streets before crashing into another vehicle, court documents say.
Jean Marie Dominguez’s Chevy Equinox eventually rammed into a city light pole and metal fence outside Johnson High School, according to charges filed against her Wednesday.
Dominguez, 51, faces two counts of criminal vehicular operation causing substantial bodily harm for her alleged conduct.
The woman she allegedly pinned between two vehicles suffered a broken leg, bruises and a possible fractured pelvis.
The 30-year-old woman was among the motorists stuck in traffic when Dominguez passed out while sitting at a stoplight at Wheelock Parkway and Arcade Street about 12:30 p.m. Monday, legal documents say.
Dominguez’ vehicle sat through three green lights as other drivers honked their horns, according to the court records.
The woman eventually climbed out of her work van and approached Dominguez’s driver’s side window. As she called police to report a “slumper,” Dominguez abruptly shifted into reverse and pinned the woman between her Equinox and the woman’s van, the complaint said.
After speeding away from the scene, Dominguez hit a Honda Civic traveling south in the middle lane of Arcade Street, sending the Honda into the retaining wall of a nearby business.
The crash caused minor injuries to two passengers in the Honda as well as significant damage to the business’s retaining wall and landscaping, authorities say.
Dominguez kept on driving, finally coming to a stop on Clear Street after hitting the light pole and fence, the complaint said.
She later told officers she’d been drinking vodka around 11 a.m. that day and admitted that her “intoxication” level caused her reckless driving and subsequent accidents, according to legal documents.
She said she knew people had been injured during the incident, the complaint said.
Dominguez was convicted of a DWI in 2014.
No attorney was listed for her in court records and she could not be reached for comment.
