A St. Paul man accused of sexually assaulting four women now also faces aggravated robbery charges.
Larry Donnell Griffin, 38, was charged in Ramsey County District Court Friday with two counts of first-degree aggravated robbery, according to court documents.
According to the charges, he approached two women behind Sherwood Lounge on White Bear Avenue North just after 1 a.m. Nov. 6. Wielding a gun, he told the woman to “give (him) your (expletive) purse,” the charges said.
Police later recovered some of the contents of one of the woman’s purse in a garage Griffin was staying at on the 1800 block of Cottage Avenue East in St. Paul.
They had executed a search warrant at the address in connection with a string of rape cases Griffin is connected to around the city.
In three of the rapes, which took place August and October, Griffin is suspected of approaching women who were walking alone along Payne Avenue, forcing them into his car at gunpoint, and raping them.
In the fourth case, Griffin allegedly raped a woman who thought she knew him and accepted a ride home from him. En route, he stopped in an alley and threatened her with a knife before the sexual assault took place, court documents say.
He is expected to make court appearances on the various rape charges later this month.
When questioned by police about the Nov. 6 robbery, Griffin denied involvement. He said he found the items tying him to the crime while raking outside his garage and walking behind the Sherwood Lounge.
